Mr. Stephen Nyitse, the man who sat on the throne of the Tor Tiv minutes before his coronation has been banished in Tiv land by The Tiv Traditional Council, for butchery of the consecrated Tor Tiv Stool.

In the statement, the TTC prohibited all sons and daughters of Tiv race from offering any form of assistance to the banished former son of Tiv, Mr. Stephen Nyitse.

The Tiv Traditional Council, TTC, in the statement has, in a strong incontrovertible terms, condemned the behavior and asked the Tiv race to rise up in condemnation of such act and as well
desist from all other forms of vices to make Tiv nation great again.

The young man, Stephen Nyitse, from Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State, caused a stir that sent shivers down the spines of dignitaries at JS Tarka Stadium, Gboko, Benue State, the venue of the coronation of Tor Tiv V in Gboko yesterday when he walked confidently and briskly, and sat on the throne of the yet to be coronated Tor Tiv, Prof James Ayatse.

He was able to beat the tight security at the venue and around the revered throne and gained access to it.

The strange behavior of the impostor aroused stir and apprehension among guests as security personnel immediately picked him for interrogation. As this was going on, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, president in Benue, Bishop Mike Angou, led other men of God to anoint and rededicate the seat.

Stephen Nyitse was whisked off for interrogation to ascertain his mental state and whether his action had any sinister motive.

But after the coronation, TTC, went into an emergency session over the matter and unanimously agreed on banishment as punitive measure act and deterrent.

Speaking to security personnel under interrogation, Nyitse said he was prompted by God to cleanse the stool for the new king.
I sat on the stool in order to cleanse it and make it comfortable for the incoming Tor Tiv.”
