Former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida is pictured with his late wife, Maryam Babangida, as a young couple. Born to Leonard Nwanonye Okogwu, an Igbo from Delta State and Asabe Halima Mohammed from Niger State, Maryam got married to Babangida shortly before her 21st birthday. She died aged 61 from ovarian cancer on December 2009 in a Los Angeles, California
