See Who’s Back…

Chelsea have welcomed a familiar face back to their Cobham training complex this week, in the form of legendary central midfielder Michael Essien.

Essien, who played for the Blues for nine years from 2005 to 2014, has been working on his fitness with Chelsea after finding himself without a club.

But the former African Footballer of the Year has insisted he is not done with football just yet, and has showed no signs of considering retirement at this stage in his career.

Essien was released by Greek outfit Panathinaikos during the summer and has since been unsuccessful in his quest to find new permanent employers.

As the search goes on however, the former Chelsea great has called upon his old club to use their training facilities in order to keep his fitness levels sharp and match ready.

Taking to Instagram this week the 33-year-old shared a short video with his 491,000 followers, showing himself working out on an exercise bike along with the caption: ‘Let’s gooo.’

The former Stamford Bridge hero can be seen wearing the current fluorescent green training attire of Chelsea as he powers away on the gym bike.
