Rio Ferdinand slams Chelsea steward who told Blues legend Gianfranco Zola to get off grass

Rio Ferdinand reminded a steward that Gianfranco Zola “owns this pitch” after the Italian was ordered off the grass at Stamford Bridge.

Zola was at his former place of work on Saturday and was providing analysis on Chelsea’s clash with Tottenham for BT Sport when the incident occurred.

According to Jake Humphrey, who explains what happened in the above video, the Italian was ordered to get off the pitch at the start of the game.

The presenter added that the pundits were left “reeling” by the demand before Ferdinand stepped in to intervene.

According to Humphrey, the former Manchester United defender “politely reminded him that Gianfranco Zola owns this football pitch behind us”.

The day did get better for the former number 25 after his old team came back from being one-nil down to beat rivals Spurs 2-1.
