Harrison Tare Okiri who is a Nigerian-born singer and  songwriter,  popularly known as Harrysong

After releasing the biggest single of 2015, “Reggae Blues”, Harrysong has successfully warmed his way into our hearts and we’re looking forward to whatever he works with. Here are a few things you probably didn’t know about him.

1. Harrysong was a street kid

After his mother passed away, Harry was forced to move into the streets due to his strained relationship with his father and step-mother.

2. He plays five instruments really well

Not only is he a vocalist, he can play the drums, the piano, the flute, and the bass and acoustic guitars. Talk about a multi-talented gentleman

3. He is a music director
Seems he’s a man of many talents, then. Not only does he sing and play the instruments but he also directs videos. He was directing before he ventured into full scale musical production and performance.

4. He is a song writer

Talk about the complete music package. Harrysong is said to have written songs he performed as well as those of some of his colleagues. He wrote ‘Limpopo’ for Kcee as well as a few songs for Omotola Jalade Ekeinde

5. He used to perform at clubs until he met Kcee

Harrysong didn’t just rise to success in a day. He moved to Lagos from Port Harcourt in 2007 where he started off as a night club performer. He later met Kcee who changed the story for him.

6. He slept under the bridge at Ikeja one time

One of the days when he was performing at the club, he came late and the gates were closed. He had no other option than to sleep under the bridge in Ikeja till day break.

7. He was motivated to move to Lagos by RMD

After he became a local champion in Delta State, he met Nollywood veteran actor, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) who advised him to relocate to Lagos where he could take his talent to national and global levels.
