Parents Of The Abducted Girl Waited For Seven-Hour But Could Not See Her

The long wait of journalists for the parents of Ese Oruru, the minor allegedly abducted from Bayelsa State and taken to Kano State, ended in vain on Tuesday, as the police could only confirm when late in the evening that they had arrived Abaji, Abuja.

Olabisi Kolawole, police spokesperson, told journalists, who had waited for seven hours at the police headquarters, that the teenager would be handed over to her parents on Wednesday. “My initial plan was to invite you when they are here,” she said. Responding to TheCable’s question on their whereabouts, Kolawole said: “They are still on the way, at Abaji.” TheCable understands that Ese’s parents travelled by road from Bayelsa to Abuja.

Earlier, Ese arrived at the police headquarters a few minutes before 1pm. She was covered in a hijab, and was escorted into an office at the seventh floor of the police building. She looked firm without a smile on her face.

Her alleged abductor, Yunusa, was brought in handcuffs to the police headquarters. The alleged abduction of Ese by Yunusa, her mother’s customer, reportedly happened in August 2015. The police took Ese into custody on Monday, and moved her to Abuja on Tuesday.
